After the show

March 28th, 2010 by Administrator | Posted in Events and Exhibitions |

OK, I admit it, my feet were VERY sore on Sunday evening! I salute every exhibitor who does something like this on a regular basis! That’s one tough job! A lot of fun, though, too, and a really great experience! Already have a ton of ideas what to do different / better next time!

One of the things that is really tiring is that 30 second ‘elevator speech’. When someone stops at your booth, you don’t want to scare them away with too much information, but you want to interest them enough to make them explore further. So over the course of 4 days, you repeat the same basic info about 3 million times, until you start sounding like a broken record, or your tongue gets all twisted from repetition. Funny. So you start to try to say it differently or find a new line, and promptly mess it all up. Hilarious. Luckily, most people are very nice about mumbling, bumbling, cross-eyed exhibitors!

Anyway, if I ever muster the energy to download the rest of the show photos from my camera into my computer, I’ll post them here. (Don’t hold your breath, though, will probably be after Easter! See above, sore feet – (and brain!) ….. ;-))

And before I forget, a big thank you to Libbie Wilkie Design for including me in her blog about the show. Very much appreciated!

Architectural Digest Home Design Show – Day 3

March 20th, 2010 by Administrator | Posted in Events and Exhibitions |

Well, yesterday I was too exhausted to produce an update! It’s quite an experience to be at this kind of show, the level of energy, the number of people, and the fact that the place heats up quite a bit when the sun shines on the metal roof, all that can make you quite tired come 7pm! (Not to mention seriously sore feet!)

But, as promised, here is the info on my neighbor to the right. Her name is Kristine Baerlin, and she turns photograph portraits into the most amazing hand painted pieces of art! Lots of dots, and no computer involved! Really special and cool. Her website is Check it out!

Tomorrow is day 4, the last day. Depending on how flat my feet will be , I’ll give you another report.

Architectural Digest Home Design Show – Day 1

March 18th, 2010 by Administrator | Posted in Artist Picks, Events and Exhibitions |

Everyone must have been working through the night – this morning, everything was set-up and clean and beautiful and ready for the show! I’m very lucky, because I have the nicest booth neighbors, Joanne Williams with her radiant, beautiful work, and Clark Renfort with incredible hand-made wood and glass lamps! They look like graceful art-deco flowers. Exquisite. And to top it all off, both Joanne and Clark and his wife are the nicest people! Check out their websites, or better yet, come see the show! 3 days left!

Tomorrow I’ll tell you about my neighbors on the other side, have not yet had the chance to talk to them!

Architectural Digest Home Design Show

Here is a look at what ┬áPier 94 looks like on March 17, at 4pm… 18 hours until the opening! Well, in the future, I will walk through trade shows with a lot more respect for all the logistics and effort ┬áthat go into setting up! How all those crates and fork-lifts and pallets and trucks and packaging and cables and

chaos will miraculously turn into the polished show that everyone expects of this event is beyond me! Look at the pics! Even my tiny little booth still looks a little rough around the edges…. Well, I’ll post some pics of how it looks tomorrow morning! Honestly, I’m curious myself!
